Retired as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh (Executive head of the state). Established leader, with extensive experience of administration cutting across a wide variety of sectors concerned with economics, finance, industrial governance and others.

Lt Gen Balbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM, VSM was the Director General of Supplies and Transport at Army Headquarters, IHQ of Ministry of Defence (Army) prior to his superannuation in May 2017. He is also the recipient of Ati Vashisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Vashisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service. During his career spanning 38 years, he held number of prestigious command, staff and instructional appointments and served extensively in operational and Counter Insurgency Areas. He has attended all important professional courses of instruction including Defence Services Staff College, the Higher Command and the National Defence College Courses.
